Following Tom and Emily Coggan’s highly regarded presentation at the 2026 Agribusiness Summit, members have been eager to learn more about the systems and innovations driving the success of their operation.
The Coggan family farming enterprise, Enarra, is located at Inglestone between Westmar and Meandarra on Queensland's Western Downs. What began as a virgin belah and brigalow block has been transformed over five generations into a diverse and highly productive operation encompassing cattle and lamb feedlots, irrigated and dryland cropping, extensive grazing and a Meatmaster stud.
Today, Coggan Farms is recognised as a leader in sustainable Australian agriculture. Visitors will gain first-hand insight into a range of innovative practices, including minimum tillage, modified machinery, cover cropping to improve soil health, automated spray technology and virtual fencing systems for livestock management.
Joining the program is Jack Groat, recipient of the 2020 Lachlan Hughes Foundation’s Tree of Life Award recipient, who will introduce members to the practical application of Natural Sequence Farming.
Developed by Peter Andrews, Natural Sequence Farming is an Australian landscape management approach that focuses on restoring natural water cycles, improving landscape function and building resilience by working with the way Australian ecosystems naturally operate.
Jack isn't a consultant or trainer—he's a grazier from Roma who has put these principles into practice on his own property. He'll share his experiences, lessons learned and the results he's seen first-hand, providing a practical and honest perspective on what works on the ground.
Whether you're interested in improving productivity, exploring new technology, building landscape resilience or simply seeing what's possible when innovation meets practical farming, this field day offers plenty to take home.
Members can either join the bus departing from Goondiwindi or travel directly to the field day site near Meandarra.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn from producers who are leading the way in innovation, sustainability and landscape stewardship.
This project is funded through the Queensland Government's Natural Resources Recovery Program.
