Macintyre Ag Alliance is delighted to announce dates for our premier event, the Suncorp Agribusiness Summit 2024 on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 March.
This year, MAA has teamed up with the Suncorp teams at Goondiwindi, Moree, St George and Toowoomba surrounds who have generously committed to a Platinum Summit sponsorship, ensuring that the two-day event will be even bigger and better than previous years.
We also welcome a major partnership with the University of New England’s Future Drought Fund project “Overcoming the knowledge gaps” for the Summit field day on 13th March.
The Summit combines field day at Billa Billa Sports Club with tour of local properties “Goondooee” and “Monte Cristo”, and conference at the Goondiwindi Community Cultural Centre.
We are proud to host Day 1 of the Summit in partnership with the Bigambul Nation.

Day 1 will kick off with a property tour with Luke, Callum and John McDonald, who will show us how the family is converting cropping country into pastures. Luke will also remind us that our top paddock is the most important paddock on the farm, sharing his personal journey and passion for helping farmers grow through adversity.
Jason Scott of Bigambul Native Title Aboriginal Corporation will present on Bigambul First Nations Fire Fighters and Land Management, a body of traditional practices and traditional ecological knowledge to maintain ecosystems and manage the land.
Ian McLean, Managing Director of Bush Agribusiness, will discuss the economic benefits of adding legumes in our pastures, and University of New England’s David McNeill will discuss the benefits of legumes and ruminant nutrition. David will also give an overview of the “Overcoming the knowledge gaps” project, which aims to increase adoption of deep-rooted legumes in Northern Australian grazing systems.
We are also thrilled to have Richard Eckard from the University of Melbourne join us to talk carbon neutral farming.
The field day will conclude with a lively and thought-provoking panel discussing carbon farming and legumes. Panellist will include Richard Eckard, CarbonLink’s Terry McCosker OAM, Suncorp Bank ESG Senior Advisor Bernardo Tobias, Luke McDonald, Ian McLean, David McNeill, Bigambul’s Justin Saunders, Nick Watts of Growth Ag, and Michael Cowley of Fox and Thomas.
Day two at the Cultural Centre will feature some thought-provoking presentations on Australia’s financial outlook, diversifying farm assets, mental wellbeing, and the Intergenerational Prosperity Model™.
We are thrilled to have Suncorp Bank Treasurer Simon Lewis support our event with a presentation on Australia’s financial markets. Simon will reflect on an extraordinary 2023 and provide an outlook for markets both domestically and offshore and how this will affect you and your business.
Many of us are familiar with the Three Generation Curse i.e. “2 Generations To Build It and 1 To Lose It. Ben Law, strategic coach and host of the Financial Bloke podcast, will delve into why this occurs and how to avoid it, with a presentation on maintaining family prosperity across the generations. You can’t get this information in Ben’s podcasts!
Sprout Ag partner Henry Holcombe will join Michael McIntosh, Property Strategist at Rethink Investing in a informative session on creating wealth outside the farm and diversifying rural assets.
This year a conference theme centres on social wellbeing, and we are excited to have Tracy Secombe, author and Head Coach at Farm Owners Academy, present on building family and business resilience, and The Rural Psychologist, Chantal Corish, deliver a mindfulness session.
Drinks on the Deck, courtesy of ANZ, will follow the sessions at 3pm.
