Bulloak Jewel Butterfly Field Day

Students from St Mary’s were excited to take a field trip to local property “Dunworrie”.

Hosted by Macintyre Ag Alliance, the students learnt about the critically endangered Bulloak Jewel Butterfly and helped plant Bulloak trees, assisting a four-year project to extend and improve the butterfly’s habitat in the Goondiwindi region.

Yinaa-Ma founder Kerrie Saunders gave a wonderful presentation on local bush tucker, and Inglewood Ranger Malcom Brown spoke to students about how to track a koala, and why the Rangers are trapping carps.

This project was funded by the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action Grants, the Goondiwindi Regional Council, and Southern Qld Landscapes through the National Landcare Program.
