2021 Regen Ag Tour
Regen road trip a ripper
In early March 2021, two minibuses set off on a 1900km round trip to visit the farms of some of the pioneers of the regenerative agriculture movement.
It was an opportunity too good to miss for 24 Goondiwindi farmers – all at different stages in their transition to regenerative ag principles but eager to learn from some of Australia’s most innovative farmers. Thanks to generous funding from North West Local Land Services, Macintyre Ag Alliance was thrilled to offer heavily discounted tickets to the four day tour, making this unique opportunity accessible to our members.
The group visited Norm and Pip Smith at Wellington, David Marsh at Boorowa, Braidwood’s Martin Royds and Gulgong’s Colin Seis, and it was impressive to see the results of these farmers’ long term holistic management, where a focus on building healthy landscapes has produced striking productivity and ecological gains.
For many in the group, a most memorable part of the tour was the friendships made, as well as processing the trip’s learnings through plenty of discussion on the application of various ideas. Macintyre Ag Alliance will be on the lookout for more opportunities to offer these tours in the years to come.
